MrJeff2000 Explains It All

It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad, um what was I talking about again?

Tribute: Jon Aubrey

It's been two years since my friend Jon Aubrey died, and I'd like to share a few thoughts, stories, and one of our favorite original recorded comedy bits.

Summer Vacation, Part 1

I finally got around to talking about my summer vacation. Well, at least the first to days of it.

As well as an annoying call with someone who wanted to donate books in the most inconvenient manner possible.

King of Books

Larry King used to do no prep work for his television show, which was a slap in the face to broadcasters who cared about providing viewers with interesting and insightful conversation. He also did a newspaper column that used ellipses to divide his fragmented, pointless points. I'm using a similar tact to cover two different topics this week.

Amtraking

Amtrak is expected to turn its first profit since incorporating in 1971.

There's a lot of history behind the railway system.

I manage to bungle through some of it this time around.

It’s My Birthday (Reprise)

On vacation this week, so here's the podcast from April 2017:

It was my birthday this past week. Thanks for asking. I spent the day with my sons, and reflected on how I chose the activities we embarked upon.

Off the Rails With the MTA

There were a full three pages of news about New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority today. So much information, in fact, that I could only talk about the first two pages.

The Graduate

My older son graduated from high school last week.

Due to terminology and the Department of Education, I have to say he is "transitioning," not graduating.

But the future looks bright, after some up and down spots.

Get Lost Kid

One of my older son's classmates was lost for 13 hours last week.

Not a good experience.

For anyone.

But especially not someone with special needs.

Camp Choices

My kids are getting ready for their summer programs.

For my younger son, that meant investigating a bunch of new camp options this spring.

Book Hostage

Sometimes the act of volunteering becomes a chore.

Sometimes doing someone a favor means doing them more than a favor.

Sometimes a book pickup becomes a chore and more than a favor.
