MrJeff2000 Explains It All It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad, um what was I talking about again?

It was a busy week, personally and in Washington.

We had a battle between the former FBI Director and the President.

We had accusations and lies.

And we have the impending specter of impeachment hearings.

"Getting off on a technicality" is the legal term for finding and exploiting a loophole in your opponent's defense or prosecution case.

You want to successfully put doubt in the mind of the judge or the jury about some small, trivial detail. At that point, the rest of the case becomes a matter of "Well, that one thing was wrong, so how do you know everything else isn't wrong?"

That's the strategy that the Trump administration uses with the press. It hasn't been working (except with the far right who keep screaming "Fake News"). But they keep at it. Because at this point, it's the only argument that they can occasionally win.

In 1988 Gart Hart was politically ruined not for having an affair, but for daring the media to find out and expose it as factual.

This past week, a GOP candidate for Congress in Montana physically assaulted a reporter, simply because he was angry about a question he was asked.

The main impetus behind this attack? The diminished respect for the media in the current political climate, as fiercely promoted by Mr. Trump.

Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey last week and Washington DC has gone crazy (or crazier) ever since.

I finally had to weigh in.

When I was in college, I worked in a movie theater.

I've talked about the experience before, but not the racism overtone that pervaded the place.

There was also sexism and age discrimination.

But it's the racism I want to tackle this time out.

I had my annual bout of food poisoning this past week.

I figured out that I've driven 7 cars regularly over the past 36 years of being a licensed driver.

And they have all been made by two manufacturers!

Back in the day.... there were video stores. Quentin Tarantino worked in one.

Then Blockbuster Video came and wrecked that business model (not to mention the basis for one of my film scripts).

What happened next was the advent of Netflix and film mailers. Which ultimately became a venue for video streaming services.

The goal is the same: Charge people to watch product on a device. The technology is what has evolved and changed the industry.

The MTA just enacted another fare hike.

There was immediate, understandable protest.

But this is a broken record and an indefensible system.

Nothing excites weather people more than a "weather event."

And a big one was expected this past week.

In some ways, it disappointed. In others, not as much.
